Company News: OutBack Power Systems Announces ETL Listing for the MX60 PV MPPT Charge Controller (Download PDF version)
October 7, 2002
Arlington, Washington (October 7, 2002) OutBack Power Systems, a leading innovator in power conversion technology, has received its listing to UL 1741 by ETL Testing Laboratories for the new MX60 MPPT charge controller.
The OutBack MX60 is a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) charge controller that enables a PV system to achieve its highest possible performance. Rated for up to 60 amps of DC output current, the MX60 can be used with battery systems from 12 to 60 vdc and with PV open circuit voltage as high as 125 vdc. The MX60’s setpoints are fully adjustable to allow charging of virtually any battery type, chemistry, and charging profile.
The OutBack MX60 allows the use of a higher voltage PV array with a lower voltage battery system – such as charging a 24 vdc battery system with a 48 vdc PV array. This reduces wire size and power loss from the PV array to the battery/inverter location and can maximize the performance of your PV system.
The OutBack MX60 comes standard with an easy to use and understand display of the PV system’s performance. The four line, 80 character, backlit LCD display is also used for programming and monitoring the system’s operation.
“The OutBack MX60 offers unmatched performance combined with very sophisticated microprocessor controlled operation,” according to Christopher Freitas of OutBack Power. “It will maximize the power output of your PV array under all conditions to put the most kilowatt-hours possible into your batteries - up to 30% more than a regular charge controller - especially during the cold winter months when you need it the most.”
ETL Testing Laboratories, a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, is authorized by OSHA to conduct safety testing and provide product listings and is comparable to Underwriters Laboratories. The FX2000 is listed under UL 1741, “Inverters for Use in Independent Power Systems” by ETL.
The OutBack MX60 can also be connected to the OutBack MATE system controller and display to allow remote monitoring of up to ten MX60 controllers from a distance of up to 1000 feet. The MATE includes an opto-isolated RS232 port for connection to a PC computer for data logging and system monitoring.
The MX60 is available from all major renewable energy product distributors throughout North America.
