  1. SmartHarvest Solar Power Stations (SPS) are five complete systems for installers to deploy reliable, long-term lower-voltage DC power anywhere needed in the field, including agriculture, remote and wireless networking, security and video surveillance, LED lighting and intelligent traffic control applications. The systems are pre-configured in outdoor-rated National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) enclosures and include the enclosure, batteries, solar panels and all mounting hardware.
  2. FLEXpower Radian systems built around OutBack’s acclaimed Grid/Hybrid inverter/charger make residential and commercial installations easier than ever. The preconfigured system includes programming, charge control, networking and other balance-of-system components essential to a solar electric design. Contractors hang the pre-wired and tested product on the wall and simply connect the solar panels, batteries and backed-up loads panel, saving installation time of up to half a day.
  3. Nano-Carbon batteries combine the advantages of reliable, absorbed glass mat/valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery chemistries with cycling and performance characteristics approaching lithium-ion and other advanced energy storage. Most important, they are more fault-tolerant, designed to thrive in partial state-of-charge applications where a full refresh charge of the battery isn’t always possible (such as when there is insufficient sunlight), and offer up to 44 percent greater cycle life versus other traditional batteries. Extending battery life for real-world residential and light commercial conditions is essential to making energy storage a cost-effective, practical mainstream technology. EnergyCell Nano-Carbon batteries advance the technological gap between lead-acid and advanced energy storage in several important and unique ways:

  • Nano-Carbon is ideal in applications where a full refresh charge isn’t possible, such as GridZero or support applications, or where limited sun-hours are present.
  • Maintaining battery capacity in a 30-80 percent state of charge can maximize overall cycle life by up to 44 percent versus a traditional VRLA deep cycle battery.
  • Nano-Carbon offers 95 percent round-trip efficiency, allowing for the more efficient charging and discharging needed in today’s technologically advanced energy storage systems.

The Nano-Carbon has an enhanced negative active material (NAM) formulation which makes it more than just a carbon additive. The high surface area carbon is a specially formulated additive for improving the NAM in lead-acid batteries. Carbon increases conductivity and adds additional capacitance to the battery. Nano-Carbon improves charge efficiency and allows partial state of charge (PSoC) operation with improved deep discharge recovery.

OutBack Power Launches FLEXpower Radian to Save Installers Time, Labor

 

ARLINGTON, Wash.--()--OutBack Power Technologies, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of advanced power electronics for renewable energy, today launched its new FLEXpower Radian line, which uses the acclaimed Radian inverter for flexible power scenarios in the next evolution of its pre-wired models. With the updated package, photovoltaic (PV) installers can eliminate hours of configuration and installation time and give projects enhanced capabilities and custom settings to best adapt to customers’ unique environments. OutBack Power offers energy storage incentive program for solar installers

The incentive program will run through October 31, 2015.

Utilities and other regulatory bodies are discussing the future of energy storage and trying to figure out how to incentivize it at the state and utility level. OutBack Power is thinking locally by incentivizing installers to add storage to their renewable energy installations. Installers who participate in OutBack’s SystemEdge program can use the incentive any way they want to build their businesses.
