Mate3s Dropping Offline Frequently

Post by bikermiker » Sat Aug 08, 2020 9:02 am

Ever since the most recent FW update a few months ago, I am getting an intermittent offline status when logging into OpticsRE. In order to restore connectivity I've tried resetting everything in the network to no avail. The only solution is to physically unplug the Mate, wait a few seconds and plug it back in. Connection is then immediately restored.

This NEVER used to happen, but after the latest firmware update, it happens about every other day.

I've tried doing a 24 hour reboot but that doesn't seem to be helping.

who do I report this issue to? It's getting annoying and would be nice to be able to access the system if I go away for a period of time.

First: Change the network cable from mate to router/modem/switch. Use a good quality cable, cat6 recommended. The cables from Outback don't work well for internet.
I had the problem even with the cable changed and my only resolution was to use a VPN connection. I am outside from US and and one day, not long after they released the latest firmware both my mates started to disconnect from OPTICSRE. I tried everything and then I had the mates connected to a router set with NordVPN and worked fine since then.

It seems to be working better with a different cable, although it did die only once since changing it out. You would think a 6' patch cable wouldn't cause that much of an issue as it's such a short run and it's not like it is a demanding connection. It mush be hitting a threshold tolerance somewhere.

So I've been using a shielded CAT5e patch and have not had any drops since. So weird. BTW this is the cable from the hub to the MATE
