Why is my system drawing 170 watt per hour at idle?

Postby Cult of Dionysus on Sun Nov 26, 2017 6:19 pm

So we just hooked up my off-grid system. The control system consists of a Prewired Flexpower w/ Dual FXR3048A w/ one charge controller (as we only have 12 panels). Nothing is on or even plugged in within the house, yet the system monitor (MATE3) says that something is drawing 170 watts per hour. My solar guy says it's the Outback system itself that is drawing that much...

Is that true?

Could you be more specific about what you are seeing on the Mate3 screen? Feel free to post a picture of the screen if you can.

Thanks,

Thanks for the comment. I've updated my profile and also post the system specs below:

Outback Power FP2 FXR3048A-01, w/ FM80 FLEXpower TWO Power Center
MATE3
8 Rolls S550 batteries
12 Suniva 280 watt panels
Honda EM5000 generator (manual start)
Solar Zone 5 in Hawaii

I can send a photo later, but basically the "Out" on the MATE3 says that something is pulling 0.170 KwH from the batteries. There are no appliances or anything else plugged in or that could be drawing power (e.g. lightst). Well maybe the hard-wired smoke detetectors, but that's only two units, and I doubt they draw more than a few watts.

What happens on the display when you turn off the AC output breaker?
