My RE system: outback vfxr3648a, Matte 3, 24 rolls 550s batteries
18 RenS la 255 watt panels, 18 370 watt panels, 10 port hub, 3 flexmax 80s
2, 11KW generac propane generators.

Hi, I have a 48 volt system, and I am having a lot of surges, even with low loads. I live in Mexico, and my tech says it's fine.

Sometimes the inverter crashes altogether, other times things like fans just slow down.

Any advice appreciated.

My RE system: Outback - Garage roof:
- 8 (2x4) Evergreen 180's into one FM80 (2007/2020 - replaced MX60)

Westinghouse Solar - Barn roof: (2012)
- 30 (2x15) 235W panels with Enphase M215 microinverters, grid-tied

Outback Skybox - Barn roof: (2019)
- 14 Talesun 275W in series (DC array input to SB inverter/charger)
- 3 SimpliPhi 3.8 batteries, 48V, 225Ah total
- AC coupled input (manual switch during grid outage only) from 14 Talesun 275W,
Enphase M215 microinverters, normally direct grid tied

All self-designed and self-installed

Please elaborate on "surges". AC voltage? Current? More details are needed...

My RE system: GS8048A, FM80 w/3,600 W PV Fixed, FM80 w/2,700W on Zomeworks tracker, Mate3, 24 Trojan 2V L16 1100AH @ C20, Grid-Tied with Kohler 14RESA LPG Generator and MEP-803 Diesel if needed
I also install and maintain grid-tied and off-grid systems, details will be given for these system if required

As this issue occurs when your loads are small, I expect that you are seeing a wide range of voltages coming from the grid. If you are on OpticsRE, go to your inverter and on the status page it will give you for today the low, current and high voltages coming from the grid. You can adjust the lower and upper AC in limits on the inverter's AC input page if on OpticsRE.

A couple of questions/thoughts:
1) Which of the seven modes is the inverter running?
2) Is this more of an issue in the summer? If in the summer is mostly during the day? It could be an issue with lots of AC units running in the area, stressing the grid. If major issue only during the day you could run in mini-grid mode during day using FLEXtime.
3) Are you selling back to the grid?
