Re: Last Crewzer Message -- Movin' On

Thanks, guys and gals!

The new job is off to a great start and I'm very busy! Check out the pic of an off-grid site I visited on the Coachella Canal near the Salton Sea in Southern CA!

Re: Crewzer Helps Louisiana/Haiti Sustainable Recovery Village

Nik, As you may not be aware, IÔÇÖm no longer affiliated with OutBack, and a friend advised me of your post. I now work for Schneider ElectricÔÇÖs Renewable Energy Business (formerly Xantrex), a direct competitor. Accordingly, I no longer frequent this forum, and, since it's now my job to promote SE...

Last Crewzer Message -- Movin' On

All, It's been both an education and a privilege to have been a member of this forum for the past five years. However, things change, and I'm movin' on, so this is my final post. I'm joining Schneider Electric / Xantrex effective January 4, 2010. I wish my OutBack friends all the best, and I look fo...

Re: AC input flashing with no AC - ERROR

Will, Got it. Some ideas: 1) Do you have a VFX3648 or a G VFX3648? 2) You may need to double check all of the wiring (input and output) between the E-Panel and the VFX, as well as the wiring within the E-Panel. I'd start by carefully checking the wiring to/from/within the AC bypass breaker assembly....

Re: AC input flashing with no AC - ERROR

Will, I received your messages. My understanding is that grid power in Haiti is notoriously unstable, even when available. You may have to tweak your VFX3648 to accommodate its environment. The default input voltage range for the VFX is 108 - 140 VAC. If the voltage falls outside of this range, it w...

Crewzer Message

All, I must sadly announce that I am suspending my forum participation effective today. This was not an easy decision to make. I joined the forum five years ago, in September, 2004. IÔÇÖve made over 1,900 posts since then and I hope that at least two or three were useful to my fellow members. Almost...

Rev 002.00.000 firmware appears to have addressed all known issues. I've been running it for almost two months with zero problems observed.

Re: how much money do you people think you need?

"Cheap" components are not necessarily inexpensive to develop, market, distribute, and support. And, OutBack's battery RTS is quite competitively priced. Here's a quickie "street level" competitive comparison:

OutBack BTS
Xantrex BTS
Morningstar BTS
Blue Sky BTS

Re: MX60 plus FM80 feed same battery bank?

What happens if they both connect to the same battery bank?
Multiple charge controllers connected to a common battery bank is not uncommon. It's a good idea to normalize their voltmeters.

Bryan, Info from the old FX manual: ERROR MENU The ERROR section allows the user to check the cause of an error condition. When an error has occurred, the red error LED indicator in the FXÔÇÖs wiring compartment will be illuminated (not to be confused with a blinking ÔÇ£ERRORÔÇØ LED that indicates a...

Re: RESETTING VFX3648 AND MX60 TO FACTORY SETTINGS

Richard,

The MX60 can be reset via its built-in menu structure and the front panel "soft" buttons". Except for hard-wiring an ON/OFF switch to the inverter's low-voltage connectors, I don't know of any way to change/reset the FX without a Mate.

Sorry...

Re: RESETTING VFX3648 AND MX60 TO FACTORY SETTINGS

Please advise on how to reset the VFX3648 to factory settings. A Mate is required to reset the FX to the factory defaults; reset instructions are in the Mate manual (and in the old FX manual). Via the Mate: ADV > Password > Enter > FX > INV > and then keep going DOWN 'till you reach "RESET FX TO FA...

Re: genalert not working

Pete, Thanks for the drawing. He says he has never been able to get the aux port to output any voltage or current. it has always acted as a switch for him. He has been wiring relays to the 'low' battery indicator light to drive a buzzer This doesn't make any sense to me. The AUX is designed to energ...

Re: STC or NOCT ?

I am using fuses, so I will still requiere to use the second 125%. Right! I am still sorting out the 690.7 stuff... I am confused because we are using NEC2005 for the other parts of the project, but in NEC2008 690.7 changed (they added more intervals to the correction factors table). The 2008 NEC A...

Re: STC or NOCT ?

Start with STC Isc specs, and then follow NEC 690.8. The you get into conditions-of-use derating considerations (wire type, free air vs. conduit, number of conductors, ambient temperature, terminal rating, etc.). See Wiles' examples: http://www.nmsu.edu/~tdi/pdf-resources/pdf%20version%20divided%20P...

Re: genalert not working

Pete, I'm pretty sure the export models' AUX circuitry is the same as for the domestic versions. Specifically, the sealed export models also use the AUX connection to power the external cooling fan. However, when I connect the relay in-line with the positive lead (in between the B+ and the buzzer po...

Re: genalert not working

Pete, I have to admit that I'm stumped... ](*,) ](*,) Assuming correct port connections and assignments, and if AGS is disabled (not just turned off), and AUX output control is set to ON, then the AUX output should be supplying +12 V. If the AUX output control is set to AUTO, then the AUX connection...

](*,) Is the FX inverter plugged into Hub port #1? Are the AUX programming instructions assigned to port #1? Can you get the AUX to work if set for any of its other functions? Pete, I'm think we're making progress... :-k Sounds like you have AGS disabled, but it's still not clear to me that you have AUX enabled: MAIN > ADV > FX > PG2 > PG3 > AUX The AUX output control choices are ON, AUTO, and OFF; it should be set to AUTO for "normal" operation. Re: genalert not working

Pete, A couple of things to check: 1) AGS overrides Genalert for a specific inverterÔÇÖs AUX output, so make sure AGS is turned off. 2) In the selected inverterÔÇÖs AUX menu, make sure AUX Output Control is set to AUTO. This setting enables ÔÇ£automaticÔÇØ operation of the AUX output per your functi...
